Received my Astro go lite and it’s not been unboxed as it’s at our holiday home. Bought this for my little Chihuahua’s who love lording it up in a stroller when they get tired after a long walk. I have 3 strollers from pets own us now and none disappoint. So I’m sure this one won’t I will update my review once it’s unboxed and test driven.

I bought the Astro Go Lite stroller for my Chihuahua who doesn't like going 'walkies'! I already have an Innopet Comfort Air stroller, which in itself is an excellent stroller, but for such a tiny dog I found myself wishing it was smaller and lighter, especially for the hot summer months. When I came across the Go Lite I had to have one as it seemed exactly what I was after (5 star service from Pets Own Us too, it was a delight to buy from you). I've now had it over a month and feel I've used it enough to be able to give it a fair and honest review.

Pros:

It is super compact, small and lightweight. I can pick it up and carry it easily with my dog inside it, which is great for awkward bits of a walk - rocky paths, stiles, gates and such, of which there is plenty where I live. It's tiny size also make is particularly suitable on small narrow pavements, again there's a lot around here and with this I don't have to go into the road on narrow streets.

It's well made. Obviously it's not as durable a bigger stroller, it's nowhere near as solid as my Innopet, but it's not designed to hold a very big dog and with sturdiness comes extra weight. The Innopet weighs 11kg, the Astro weighs 4kg. The difference is immense if you don't need it. The whole point of this is to be very portable and light, and this it excels at. I live up a one in three hill and I can push this little stroller up with one hand.

It looks good. I bought the pink one and it's a nice colour, very bright and cheerful. I believe the blue one would be too, so it's simply a matter of personal preferance. The whole stroller is very aesthetically pleasing as it's cute, compact and colourful.

Price. It's a great price for what it is. Nice and affordable, besides which, there isn't another stroller of this size available so if you want a super small stroller it's well worth the cost. I would also be happy to pay a little extra for this if it sorted out the issues (see cons).

Durability. I haven't had it long enough to say how durable it is, but I've took it some pretty steep rough tracks and so far it's holing up well. I personally wouldn't put more than one or two average size Chihuahuas in it (perhaps three if they're very tiny/dainty), or a similar sized Yorkie, certainly nothing bigger or heavier.

Cons:

The height. This is going to be a big issue if you're talll. The handle is uncomfortably short and really needs to be a bit longer. I'm 5'3 and found it to be just too short for comfort, I would imagine anybody taller would struggle and not be happy pushing it for long. Ideally the handle needs to be lengthened, or even better add a little more on the price and make it adjustable.

The wheels. These along with the handle are it's two main letdowns. The wheels are hard, noisy and offer no cushioning at all, in short they are typical foam wheels which might be puncture proof but that can't make up for the juddering and rattle that comes with them. After the pneumatics on the Innopet I found the foam wheels quite unbearable to both push and listen to, in fact I couldn't stand it and have actually swapped the wheels for some rubber ones. Oh my goodness what a difference! The stroller is now smoother, quieter, rolls better and because these wheels are an inch bigger (5 instead of 4) they have sorted out the issue with the handle being too short. It is a completely different machine for altering the wheels.

In conclusion I think this is a great stroller for very small toy breed dogs that could be made even better with a couple of tweaks. Higher the handle and make the wheels at least 5" ones out of a softer compound. This would make it a truly excellent choice for owners of mini size dogs. Would I buy one again? Yes in an instant. It suits what I want and need in a stroller, particularly in the warmer months when I want something breezy and light. This fits the bill perfectly. No it's not very big but my dog isn't very big so the idea of a stroller that's half the size of all the others is very appealing. After all, if the dog is only 1.7kg where's the sense in carting around a stroller that's designed for a dog up to 25kg?
